A NEW YEAR BRINGS A POWERFUL NEW TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION PARTNER!
Beyond Technology Education will be providing professional development support for our teachers and computer science curriculum resources for our students. We are very excited to present this new partnership to Fairmont School’s families!
Technology is always changing, we are here to help.
Technology is providing opportunities for schools that not only benefit learning today, but also provides the tools for students to be competitive into the future.
Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Graphic Arts and Math is a crucial skill to prepare students for their future. Starting in Kindergarten, students will be introduced to block coding, computer science, digital literacy, graphic design, data collecting using spreadsheets and formulas. As they progress through the grades, their depth of knowledge will continue to grow.
DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP / SAFETY
Students will have the skills and knowledge to effectively use the internet and digital devices to stay safe, as well as develop their character, communicate effectively and responsibly, as they become digital citizens.
Students will have the skills needed to find, evaluate and communicate information effectively using various digital platforms and devices. Kindergarten starts with keyboarding and digital essentials, integrating standards with every lesson. Each year, students will grow in their knowledge of how to format properly, send proper emails, work collaboratively, navigate seamlessly with documents, spreadsheets, slides and graphic design.
Full-stack developers are in high demand. Learning how to code starts with understanding algorithms, debugging and solving puzzles. Learning how to code builds resilience, grit and problem-solving skills that are needed in daily life.
DATA SCIENCE AND INTERPRETATION
Analyze and interpret data is no longer just for engineering or programming. This is an essential life skill. Data is all around us and continues to grow. Teaching students to interpret and analyze data, graphs and spreadsheets will help them become curious about the world around them. They will learn to ask questions and investigate topics that are important to them.
In a world of consumption, the ability to create is a significant tool. Learning to be innovative and create expands a student’s depth of insight. Instead of ‘like, share and comment’, students will become thought leaders and creators of their own content. Graphic design, writing, collaboration and communication are key skills in the workplace and private lives.
